Vipin Janardhanan - My Formula for Success

I am diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (diplegia) which means two limbs are affected that has compromised my ability to walk. I come from a middle-class family with my parents and sister completing it. I work at a reputed Multinational Company as an administrative assistant for the last 18 years. I am a person who believes in focusing on abilities rather than disabilities.

Formula for Success

My success in handling life as a person with Cerebral Palsy has many factors that took time to explore and implement as situations demand. As we all say there is no easy route to achieving success.

I did my schooling at Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK) and completed class 10 and 12 through National Institute of Open Schooling in 1999 and completed my graduation BA in Public Administration through Indira Gandhi Open University in 2008.

My parents always supported me to explore my strengths and develop it by grabbing every opportunity to showcase the ability in various forums made available to us. My parents and teachers always guided me on the path of choosing the correct options that could be developed as the journey in my life moves on. My education and interactions with well-wishers have helped me to develop self-awareness and the right attitude to help me guide others to create their own success. My belief in focusing on abilities rather than disabilities has helped me remain positive throughout my journey of exploration as a person with Cerebral Palsy.

I would like to thank SSK for guiding me with valuable inputs to focus on my physical and mental health which was instrumental in taking part in various activities like sports and other extra-curricular activities.

I joined my present organization in 2001. From 2003, I was designated the role of Administrative Assistant. With the support of a dear classmate and later a friend, I I grasped the role of Receptionist and deciphering American English to help me start the job of Receptionist successfully. Today the value of this help has made me a better communicator with my team which has been widely noticed by the management and colleagues which has enhanced my productivity and ability to make practical decisions with respect to the role handled by me. This defines my success story as an Administrative Assistant for 20 years at a reputed multinational company.

Advocating on Rights of Disabilities

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”- Harriet Tubman.

This quote helped me start advocating Rights for Persons with Disability. Facing many challenges through my journey as a Person with Disability, I had to have the courage not to let society be a bane to my personal and professional growth. I have created for myself a platform to voice out the importance of Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities with the Rights prescribed by the Constitution and practiced by all citizens of India.
